F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions)

Question: How are your pepper mills finished?

Answer: Each mill receives a minimum of six coats of my own special blended urethane finish. Each coat is allowed to dry and is then hand polished before applying the next coat. The final coat is buffed to a beautiful satin sheen that will last a lifetime with minimal care.

Question: What can you tell me about the mechanisms that are used in your mills?

Answer: The grinding mechanisms of the pepper mills are made in the USA. The heart of the mechanism is a stainless steel set of grinding blocks that utilize a unique spring action to maintain the setting, yielding consistent grind. By turning the knurled knob on top you can select from coarse to fine pepper. These excellent pepper grinding mechanisms operate very smoothly and carry a lifetime warranty.
For the salt mills I use a mechanism with poly carbonate grind blocks and an anodized aluminum shaft made by the same company as the pepper grinding mechanisms..
Designs that require a knob less top receive a ceramic crush grinded mechanism that adjusts from the bottom and does a great job of grinding salt. This unit is made in Belgium and carries a 25 year warranty.

Question: Are your mills guaranteed in any way?

Answer: Paul Chilton Mills are warranted for life. Both the mill body and the grinding mechanism are covered under normal use and care. If for any reason you are dissatisfied with your mill please return it postage paid for exchange or a full refund of the purchase price.
